Dave Tarvin

Aggie Core Values Faculty Fellow Department of Communication & Journalism
Dr. Dave Tarvin wants to live in a world where the Aggie ethos is the national ethos. Where respect, excellence, leadership, loyalty, integrity, and selfless-service aren't just Aggie values, but values that everyone holds true. Where we can respect differences; show excellence by improving society; have a servant-leadership mindset; be loyal to one another; have integrity in our discussions, and serve one another regardless of our differences. He also wants to live in a world with more squirrels and sloths. Dr. Tarvin is an Instructional Professor in the Department of Communication & Journalism and has taught at Texas A&M for 12 years. He is the President of Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society for the TAMU Chapter 053, has won the Wells Fargo Honors Faculty Mentor Award in 2025 and the Director's Award for Outstanding Service to Honors Programs in 2023. When Dr. Tarvin is not teaching, you can find him crocheting amigurumi (small, stuffed yarn animals), chasing his chickens and dogs around the yard, or on a plane to some international location preparing for a future study abroad program.
