Christopher Manes

Aggie Core Values Faculty Fellow Department of English

Christopher Manes wants to live in a world where thinking matters and hope is freely expressed.
He is a lecturer in English and has taught at Texas A&M for almost 5 years. Christopher has been recognized for his contributions in Core Curriculum Assessment for Academic Year 2024-2025, assessing over 1600 artifacts (student-produced work) in Summer 2025 for The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Evaluation (OIEE).

When Manes is not teaching, you can find him writing poetry that ranges in topics from African asylees to people diagnosed with Hansen's disease, what used to be called “leprosy”, and incarcerated at the leprosarium in Carville, Louisiana (1919-1941); the last patient left the leprosarium in 2015.
