Howdy, Aggies! Who says you can’t go home again? Jennifer McGill ‘00 earned her B.S. degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. She spent the last 25 years as a learner and a teacher—about half of that in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and most recently 600 miles away in Cape Girardeau, Missouri along the banks of the Mississippi River. But she is thrilled to be back in Aggieland and excited to serve as a Program Coordinator for the Honors Academy at the university she loves. Whoop!
Over the course of her career, Jennifer went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology from Southeast Missouri State University and a graduate certificate in Gifted Education from Missouri State University.
It is no coincidence that Jennifer has chosen to spend her entire career engaged in teaching and learning. She is a fourth-generation educator who has taught students from kindergarten through college. After graduating from Texas A&M, Jennifer earned certifications in K-12 special education and gifted education, elementary education, and middle-school English in the states of Texas and Missouri.
Jennifer has interacted with and impacted learners across a wide spectrum of backgrounds, needs, and goals. Her elementary teaching journey spans Title I reading, dyslexia intervention, general elementary, gifted education, and special education. She has served high-achieving gifted and talented students as well as general elementary students and students with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, physical and visual impairments, and behavioral disorders.
Jennifer also has post-secondary teaching experience, serving students as an instructor for university psychology courses—in lifespan development, child development, and abnormal psychology—and as an advisor and senior research instructor for university honors program students. Through all of these experiences, Jennifer has identified, embodied, and honed her core values: empathy, love, impact, teaching, and excellence.
