Emily Finbow, M.S.

Emily Finbow serves as Assistant Director for Texas A&M Honors Academy, where she oversees the Honors Academy Professional Development Series and works heavily with the Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies. She serves as an advisor for the Honors Student Council and Pan-Honors Freshman Leadership Organization. Additionally, Finbow handles communications for the unit and advises Honors students.

Born in Irving, Texas, Ms. Finbow earned her B.A. in English and American Literature at New York University in 2003 and her M.S. in Library Science at University of North Texas in 2012. Her undergraduate thesis, “Sexualized Education: The Evolution of the Governess,” focused on the influence of Jane Eyre and Vanity Fair on contemporary and modern romance novels.

Ms. Finbow’s internships in college in New York City ranged from “All My Children” to InStyle to Miramax Films. Upon graduation, she worked for talent agents at The Gersh Agency and International Creative Management.

From 2007 to 2015 she worked in law school admissions at Texas Wesleyan Law (later Texas A&M School of Law). In 2015, she was promoted to Senior Data Analyst, where she focused on "law school data wrangling" for the U.S. News and World Report and the Princeton Review. In 2016-2017, she spearheaded the American Bar Association (ABA) Site Evaluation Visit.

Ms. Finbow moved to the College Station campus in 2017 to join the School of Innovation as the Assistant Director. In 2021, she joined LAUNCH with her two programs, Innovation[X] and MaroonBase. She joined the Honors team in 2024. 

During her time at Texas A&M, she has served on committees for the Entrepreneurship Minor, Leadership Minor, International Education Week, and currently represents Honors Academy at the MSC Stakeholders Group. She is a long-time member of the honor societies of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi, and a new member of the honor society of Sigma Xi. She has recently been elected to serve as one of seven members to serve on the national Phi Kappa Phi Council of Chapter Officers.

Ms. Finbow co-authored "The VIP Approach - Applying a Virtual, Interdisciplinary Partnership to Support Innovation and Authentic Learning in Distance Education," published in TechTrends with Noelle Wall Sweany, Yun Li, and Rebecca L. Burgner. She has presented at the Deshpande Symposium for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Higher Education, and has appeared to talk about her work on ThinkTech's "The Creative Life" talk show on "Creativity, the Past and the Future" and the "Aggie Conversations" podcast.
