ASPIRE
ASPIRE (Aggie Scholars Promoting Incentive, Resources, and Encouragement) is a group of upper-class scholarship recipients who volunteer time to help freshmen “learn the ropes” of college life. Each freshman will be assigned to an individual mentor and to a group of other freshmen and mentors. In addition to providing various resources for the new students, mentors will attend all ASPIRE sessions, coordinate a small community meeting and have a monthly meeting hour with their freshmen.
All ASPIRE participants are required to attend various programs through the fall and spring semesters to help aid in their transition to college life.
- Academic Scholarship Recognition Ceremony takes place in the beginning of the fall semester. At this time, representatives from numerous university offices officially welcome the new class of scholarship recipients.
- ASPIRE Community Meetings occur monthly and are utilized to bring all of the the ASPIRE members (Advisors, Executives, Mentors and Freshmen) together. Each meeting will have a learning component to it. The fall meetings will focus on developing Academic Skills, and the spring meetings will focus on Life Skills.
- ASPIRE Small Community Meetings are events that are hosted by your mentors and give you the opportunity to learn more about small community members. These meetings will follow up on the monthly theme while conducting the meeting in a social environment.
- Weekly Contact with your mentor will allow you to develop a personal relationship with your mentor. This can be beneficial to you as a freshman when you are in need of assistance
