The Honors Housing Community

The Honors Housing Community provides a living-learning community for students who are committed to Honors study at Texas A&M. Whether residing in the McFadden|Lechner Freshman Honors Halls or Clements Honors Hall, students benefit from the attention to academic excellence, a vibrant social life, and the fun traditions that have been inherent in the Honors Housing Community for over twenty years.

Peer Leaders in each hall design programs to enhance each student's Honors experience and to encourage specific learning outcomes. Whether eating together at dorm dinner, planning a Pizza & Profs, attending a football game together as a hall, raising funds for a non-profit, decorating for a themed hall dance, gathering in the hallway for discussion, or studying for tests, students are sure to have the support they need for a successful year.

All Honors residence halls are modular-style co-ed housing, and each have meeting spaces for studying, hosting guest speakers, playing games, and gathering for social events.

Honors Housing Community Learning Objectives

Students who reside in the Honors Housing Community can expect to learn how to do the following:

  • Interact with other members of the Honors Housing Community
  • Integrate into the Texas A&M University community-at-large
  • Utilize Texas A&M campus resources

  • Contribute to an environment of mutual respect by recognizing differences in individuals, indentifying shared values, and learning to navigate differences of opinion, practices, beliefs, convictions, and traditions
  • Discuss socio-cultural topics and global issues
  • Navigate change through exploration, engagement, analysis, and adaptation
  • Embrace appropriate risk and celebrate success or learn from failure
  • Internalize the Texas A&M University traditions of honesty, integrity, and healthy sense of self in relation to community

Entering Honors Housing

Students who are entering in Fall 2012 and who wish to reside in McFadden|Lechner Freshman Honors Halls must be accepted into the University Honors Program, which is available through the ApplyTexas.org admissions application.

All students who wish to reside in the Honors Housing Community must complete the Department of Residence Life process--which includes applying, completing a contract, submitting a deposit and record of Bacterial Meningitis vaccination--by the deadlines established in that office. For general information about on-campus housing, consult the Department of Residence Life website.
