Graduation Distinctions

Honors Graduate

Honors students may pursue any of the over 160 degree plans available to undergraduates at Texas A&M.  In fulfilling their degree plan requirements, motivated students have the opportunity to select the combination of Honors and non-Honors courses that best meet their individual needs.

Dedicated Honors students can complete specific curriculum plans and receive special recognition at commencement and an Honors designation on their permanent transcripts.

A student may complete one or more of the three university-level honors plans: Foundation Honors, University Honors, and University Undergraduate Research Fellows Program (honors senior thesis). Students interested in pursuing these plans should consult with an Honors Advisor early and often. Students are also advised to begin taking honors courses as early as is possible and to consistently enroll in honors courses, at least one a semester.

Foundation Honors

The Foundation Honors plan requires six Honors courses (19 credit hours) in specific areas of the University Core Curriculum.

University Honors

The University Honors plan requires twelve Honors courses (33 to 36 credit hours), including four courses in the University Core Curriculum and at least four junior- or senior-level Honors.

University Undergraduate Research Fellows

Junior Honors Candidates are invited to apply for the Fellows program, a year-long research experience that culminates in an Honors senior thesis. Students who complete the program receive an additional transcript designation.

College & Departmental Honors Plans

The College of Liberal Arts, the Dwight Look College of Engineering, and the Mays Business School offer additional opportunities for motivated students to graduate with Honors Graduation Distinctions.  A number of academic departments also offer specialized curriculum plans that Honors students can pursue in addition to the University and College Honors Graduation Distinctions.
