The Program

The Champe Fitzhugh, Jr. International Honors Leadership Seminar is carefully planned each year by three key units of Texas A&M University: The University Honors Program, the Memorial Student Center and Study Abroad Programs. In small, interactive settings simulating the Honors seminar experience, students explore concepts of leadership and the University as an institution. High School students who have been successful thus far are likely to assume leadership roles during their college career and beyond. The program is designed to prepare participating students to make the best of the educational odyssey ahead of them.

Students will:
  • Experience contemporary and historical Italian culture, art, and architecture, as well as acquire an appreciation for other cultures.
  • Develop friendships with other high-achieving students and potential campus leaders.
  • Meet with faculty mentors to discuss students' personal development.
  • Learn leadership and organizational skills, with emphasis on experiential activities.
  • Gain insights into the keys to success as an undergraduate college student, and in graduate or professional school.
  • Collect valuable information on academic resources and opportunities at Texas A&M.
  • Practice communicaiton skills, time management, and goal setting
The Location

Italy Santa Chiara, the Texas A&M University Study Abroad Center, is located in Castiglion Fiorentino, a picturesque eleventh century walled village in Tuscany between Rome and Florence.
