| The Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships provides numerous supplemental scholarship opportunities to students who progress in nationwide competitions sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or College Board. Semifinalists in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Competition are announced by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. |

Application deadline to enter into the Scholarship Competition for four-year academic scholarships. |

|
Finalists in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Competition are designated by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. |
February 2008
|
Four-year Texas A&M competitive academic scholarship awards will be mailed to National Merit Semifinalists expected to progress to Finalist. |
| March 2008 |
Any National Merit Finalist who has not heard from the Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships regarding a scholarship offer should send verification of Finalist status. |

National Merit Scholars announced by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Guaranteed Scholarships |

Merit Plus Scholarship |
| Eligibility: |
To be awarded a Merit Plus scholarship, a prospective student must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be designated as a Semifinalist in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Competition
- Be enrolled at Texas A&M University as a full-time student for the Fall of 2008
- Graduate from high school in Spring 2008

| Terms: |
A $2000 academic scholarship payable during the freshman year
of study at Texas A&M.
|
| Additional Incentives: |
Students who meet the published eligibility criteria may also compete
for prestigious scholarships in the Endowed Competition. These four-year, merit-based scholarships range from $10,000 to $12,000 total and may be "stacked" with the Merit Plus Scholarship, the Director's Excellence Award, the NM Recognition Award, and the Director's
Excellence Supplemental Scholarship. NB: prospective students must complete the online application to be considered for Endowed Scholarships.
Applications for the 2008 scholarship competition must be received by
December 15, 2007. Online applications
will be available online September 15, 2007.

| Eligibility: |
To be awarded a National Merit Sponsorship award, a prospective student must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be designated as a National Merit Finalist
- Have named Texas A&M University as the college
of choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
- Be enrollment at Texas A&M University as a full-time student for the Fall of 2008
- Graduate from high school in Spring 2008

| Terms: |
Annual stipend of $650 for four years of undergraduate study
($2,600 total).
|
| Additional Incentive: |
Students who meet the published eligibility criteria may also compete
for prestigious scholarships in the Endowed Competition. These four-year, merit-based scholarships range from $10,000 to $12,000 total and may be "stacked" with the Merit Plus Scholarship, the Director's Excellence Award, the NM Recognition Award, and the Director's Excellence Supplemental Scholarship. To be awarded an NM Recognition Award, a prospective student must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a National Merit or National Achievement Semifinalists who progresses
to Finalist
- Have named Texas A&M University as the college of choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
- Be enrolled at Texas A&M University as a full-time student for the Fall of 2008
- Graduate from high school in Spring 2008

Annual stipend of $6,000 for four years of undergraduate study ($24,000 total)

To be awarded a Director's Supplemental Scholarship, a prospective student must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be designated as a National Merit Scholar
- Have named Texas A&M University as the college of choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
- Be enrolled at Texas A&M University as a full-time student for the Fall of 2008
- Graduate from high school in Spring 2008
- Enroll in a fifth year of study as an undergraduate

Annual stipend of $2,000 for National Merit Scholars needing
a fifth year of study.
